Remember your first polo player? He was stitched on the white cotton blouse you wore with khaki shorts and a puffy-painted belt.

Find another at the Houston Polo Club. Box seats for the spectator sport are open to the public – buy a $20 ticket and get to the field at least an hour early to try and claim a general admission box in the members-only section. The gorgeous green space is a hidden retreat between 610 and Memorial Park, and many Houstonians have never experienced a game. There’s champagne, a full menu by Armandos and the chance to stomp divets during half-time. (It’s all very polka dot dresses in Pretty Woman.) If you can’t snag a box, head across to the bleachers and focus on the action on the field.

Where muscled Argentines, often the home team’s opponent, sure look ready to score.
