Sugar cane Cokes, fresh mint mojitos, all the historic touches intact… Everything’s authentic at the Hotel Havana on the River Walk.

Our friends at San Antonio Tidbits are buzzing about the newly launched boutique hotel. Austin hipster Liz Lambert (famous for her Austin and Marfa hotels) bought the historic digs to put her signature quirky cool in a top-to-bottom redo. Think bright red patent furniture that mixes with mod pops of color throughout the 27 rooms. Bust out your straw hat and linen camp shirt and order beachy-chic local snacks – the new palm-trees-meet-patio atmosphere asks guests to step back in time to the exotic flavor of 1950s Cuba. Then head for the downstairs bar, still the hotel’s gem, and ask for a cigar.

Maybe if you’re lucky, you’ll get the real thing.
