Happy Friday from your friends at Houston Tidbits! We’ve got another fun announcement, so we decided to do it with a bonus Tidbit this week.
Along with our expansion to New Orleans, we’ll soon be publishing San Antonio Tidbits, and we’re super-excited about it! Will you please tell your Alamo City buds about us? We’ll love you forever for it, and here’s a little bit of inspiration.
SHOP
When you love shoes as much as these shop owners, why sell anything else? Hit LeeLee shoe boutique in Alamo Heights and feast on rows of delicious styles. With fresh looks from Sigerson Morrison and Cynthia Vincent, plus plenty of under-the-radar labels, the hand-picked selection gives the Nordstrom shoe department a run for its money.
SIP
Kick back at Blue Star Brewing Company in arts-friendly Southtown, where hipsters nosh on no-fuss fare while sipping great wines and microbrews. Upstairs, you can rent an adorable vintage bike on the cheap. Wheel around town on your own or hop on for one of their tours.
EAT
The adorably small raw bar from local celeb chef Andrew Weisman – of Le Rêve fame – has only one waiter and serves only white wine. It’s all part of the charm at downtown’s Sandbar Fish House and Market. (map) Order the lobster roll and delightfully simple key lime pie and enjoy being treated by one of the country’s culinary titans. Stay tuned for Sandbar’s move to the Pearl Brewery this fall.

STAY
The chance to sleep in the historic King William District typically comes by way of an unaffordable mortgage. Opt instead for the adorable Oge House at the Noble Inns, a bed and breakfast that’s been restored to all its Civil War era glory – most rooms feature a cozy fireplace and veranda – with the modern amenities you crave, like fluffy robes, spa-worthy products and free Wi-Fi.
