The parade this morning kicks off our favorite time in the Big Apple. The shopping, the lights, the Barneys window… Talk about a winter wonderland. If you are NYC-bound this holiday season, here are some of our picks.
EAT AND SIP
Named one of New York Magazine’s top 20 pizzas earlier this year, you’ll swoon over the authentic crisp pies at Emporio. We’ve sampled almost everything in this Nolita gem, and you’ll love the setting as much as the Italian specialties.
Take a break from your Madison Avenue spree for lunch at Blanche’s, the vegetarian counter cafe on the second floor of Donna Karen’s flagship store. Super-healthy wraps, smoothies and salads are equally as tempting as the maven’s sportswear. (Cash only.)
SHOP
Discover the next hot label at The Market NYC in Nolita, where every Saturday and Sunday emerging indie designers gather to offer well-priced apparel, jewelry and accessories that you won’t find anywhere else. (Free entrance.)
If you love the beach-inspired silk frocks at Calypso, you’ll pine over Calypso Home in Soho. Take some of the tropics home – the selection of bedding, decorative pillows, colorful throws and home accessories are calming and cozy all at once. (407 Broome St., 212.925.6200)
A 168-year-apothecary in the West Village, C. O. Bigelow carries everything you need to get gorgeous, and we love their extensive line of all-natural lip care. Stroll the aisles to pick up everything from organic toothpaste to pretty hues for your pucker.
PLAY
Relax at the High Line, a new elevated park near the Meatpacking District built on an old freight rail. See if you can spot a star lounging or noshing on classic concessions in this urban oasis.
STAY
Be seen at the luxe Crosby Street Hotel in Soho, where the people-watching is half the fun. This new boutique hotel is in the perfect spot to experience all the magic Manhattan has to offer.
