You find the private entrance on the side of the building – the kind you have to know to look for – and the doorman checks you off the list. Inside, your eyes have just enough time to adjust to the swank, dark space before the elevator whisks you upstairs.
The members-only Foundation Room at the House of Blues opens to the public for lunch this week. Slide into a curtained banquette and allow all your senses to take in the other-wordly atmosphere. Sweet incense burn, candles flicker under dim lights, and rich fabric, textures and art cover the space from top to bottom. Order a delicious Kobe burger with truffle fries and, since this isn’t your typical mid-day meal, add on a $1 martini.

Sneaking away from the office for a decadent downtown lunch isn’t illegal, but being the first to know about this club is a little like Prohibition era partying. Since these martinis don’t have to be bootlegged, how ’bout another?
