Texas pride means thinking everything’s better down here. And if it’s not better, dang it, we’ll claim it’s bigger.

Tease your hair (tastefully) and head to Stella Sola, the very hip new Heights resto. The name translates in Italian to Lone Star and there’s a Southern steer on the sign, but that doesn’t mean you should ask for a bib or BBQ sauce. The specialties here hail from Northern Italy and our vote’s for the butternut squash ravioli, Caesar salad with a twice-fried egg, and the gnocci. Afterwards, order a tiny shot of the after-dinner drink Milkshake No Minors (also a fave on the menu of Reef, from the same owners.)

We’re not just braggin’. It’s the best shake in the state.
